Reiki is a form of alternative therapy that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. Its name comes from the Japanese word Rei (meaning "universal") and Ki (meaning "life force energy").

​Reiki, operates on the belief that physical, emotional, and mental imbalances in our lives can disrupt the flow of life force energy (chi) within us, leading to various health issues. 

Reiki is grounded in the principle that the practitioner can channel this universal energy into the patient using touch to activate the natural healing processes of the patient’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being. In a typical Reiki session, the practitioner uses specific hand placements, gently resting them on or above the patient’s body in various positions. This is believed to transfer energy and promote healing.

The practice does not involve any form of physical manipulation or invasive procedure. Instead, it is a subtle and spiritual process.
